Dig Photograph 126

1926. The Senghenydd Crate.

AN ANCIENT SITE

Whilst excavating an unknown stone age site in South Wales, Sir Cyril Fox and his team discovered a large circular structure containing a number of bones. His team carefully documented this find using extensive sketches
and rudimentary photographic equipment.

A MYSTERIOUS COLLECTION

Although some were clearly human, many of the bones appeared to be part of a large animal previously unknown to science, which Fox terms the "Rigara". In Photograph 126, both a human jawbone and cranial fragments from the Rigara are clearly visible.
